Your NOT SO Typical Restaurant Review #1

I have been wanting to start this series for some time now… I love eating, and I enjoy eating out.  I like to try new places and expand my horizons.  With that being said, there are other things besides food that I ‘review’ during my visits to these fine places.  Keep reading to find out where I am going with this!

Here is the first place I decided to officially (not so officially) review:

Tooley’s BBQ & More in Farmington, AR.  I’m going to tell you why I chose this place…

  1. It is close to home. (Close is relative when you live in the country)
  2. We were on our way home from a week long trip to Branson. (So naturally I felt like after letting them spend a week of lounging by the pool, watching tv, going to shows and having no responsibilities what so ever that I OWED the kids a ‘treat’)
  3. The kids were hungry and there was no food at home.  (Okay, there was food, but I didn’t want to fix it)
  4. I had purchased a deal from NWA Deal Piggy!  (Which I realized after we got to the parking lot, had been left at home)
  5.  PLUS, I have eaten here before and there are more than a few things worth mentioning about this place!

The FIRST and most important reason is this:

Deep fried mushrooms!  These are AMAZING!  For those of you that don’t know, if you order deep fried mushrooms from somewhere and they come to you as perfectly round shapes with no bumps, they are way too breaded and taste like they have been frozen.  The only other place that I have experienced mushrooms this amazing was at Phil’s in Westville, OK (it has since had to close it’s doors, and we mourn the loss of this well known family owned place)!  Add a little bit of ranch dipping sauce and you get a little bit of heaven here on earth!  I didn’t even need to see the menu first, because I had ordered them before and get them every time I go!

Once, for lunch that is all I ordered even!  They are seriously THAT good!

Great little menu with so many different items to choose from!  The kids settled on chicken tenders (can’t get them to think outside the box much, they know what they like!)  I decided to go with a burger and home style fries.

There was a mix up in the kitchen and they brought me chips instead of fries, but before I could say anything, our amazing waitress said, “I am so sorry, they made a mistake, but your fries are on the way.”  No problem I thought, chips and fries!  The home made chips by the way were great!  Tasted so much better than regular chips!  My fries got there quickly and it is so great to be able to tell that they came from an actual potato!  I love home style fries!  I got my love for home style fries made from actual potatoes from my dad, who coincidentally was the first person I ate at Tooley’s with.  He took me out for lunch one day while I was working and we split a burger (but got our own fries)!

Okay, so besides food quality, presentation, wait staff and overall appearance of the restaurant, there is one other thing I review …

The TOILET PAPER quality!

I want a toilet paper that is of good quality and absorbent (can I get an AMEN?).  I mean, I do care if the bathroom isn’t clean, but in reality, I care more that my hands STAY clean!  So, here is the tp that greeted me on my visit…

Very thin two ply, not my favorite, but points for coming over the roll instead of coming from behind the roll. There is NO discussion about which way is the right way, we all know the difference!  Having another roll in reserve got points as well.  Hand soap on the wall followed up by a no touch towel dispenser also was a big plus! (I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that I am not a germaphobe by any stretch of the imagination).

So, with all that being said, Tooley’s scores…

So, I hope you enjoyed this little ‘NOT SO Typical Restaurant Review’ and try out this great place…

Tell them The Busy Nothings sent ya!  Oh yeah, and I still have that NWA Piggy Deal floating around here somewhere…

(*disclaimer: These opinions are the bloggers own thoughts and she was not compensated in anyway for writing this post….yet). 😉

But how did the SOAP smell?? That is what my daughter ALWAYS checks! Her opinion of a restaurant is closely tied to the bathroom ‘experience!’ LOL Great post! Love it!
