“Can I get a biiiiig Amen?!” screams the african-american tv evangelist. (He looks like Al Sharpton for some reason in my head)
and I yell back slightly more enthusiastically, “AMEN!”

The word Amen (Hebrew: אָמֵן, Standard Amen Tiberian ’Amen ; Arabic: آمين‎, ’Āmīn ; “So be it; truly”[1]) is a declaration of affirmation[2][3] found in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament.[1] Its use in Judaism dates back to its earliest texts.[4] It has been generally adopted in Christian worship as a concluding word for prayers and hymns.

Summit had his evaluation for speech therapy today. I think I’ve maaaaaybe mentioned how he doesn’t like his therapist, etc, blah blah blah, so this has not always been such a positive experience. Today, however, he was a rock star. Of all days to be a rock star, he chose the day she was doing his evaluation! He laughed and smiled and mimicked away- a good thing here. I’ll be honest, he surprised me a little bit (a lot) with how much he seemed to grasp, understand and do. He followed several voice commands (ex.”Summit get the ball and put it in the box”, and he did it), copied her when she asked him to say things (ex. “Summit say Da-Da”) and generally had a uncharacteristic obliging and cheerful demeanor.

He did so well in fact that her general observation was that he may NOT QUALIFY for anymore speech therapy because he’ll fall in the “normal” category (albeit in the lowest part, but still on the chart!)!!! This is so far beyond my expectations, these are the things I whisper only to God in my desperate plea for my child to excel, but don’t dare hope too much because it hurts too much to. I am so thankful that God even hears those prayers we don’t dare believe can happen. Summit’s attitude towards her alone is a huge answer to prayer. His dentist appointment last week was another huge answer to prayer. He has perfect, strong teeth even though children with ws usually have horrible teeth and often have to have mouth surgery at a young age to repair damage. This final miracle, that he falls into a normal category, even though I shouldn’t care so much but do… well, I’m almost speechless.

So be it. Truly!

I know! I have to add that he may still have therapy and I kind of hope he does because it’ll keep him sharp. I’m glad that he’s in the “normal” range, but I’d prefer him to stay in therapy so he doesn’t fall behind!

Woo hoo! Go Summit – he sure chose the right moment to show out!

Yeah Summit! I love it when kids perform well.

I took Joseph up to my old work place today and couldn’t get him to say anything on queue. He just gave me the blank stare, but I saw the twinkle in his eye that said, “You can’t make me.” :)
