Monday Happies

YES, I realize that this is a day late- but “Tuesday” Happies doesn’t quite capture the absolute CHOICE that it is to even have a Monday Happies post in the first place. I still hate the first day of the week, but I have to say that being on vacation in COLORADO in Brekenridge kind of makes it easier to find the good!

-It’s SUNNY outside and in the 50’s. I could just stop here and everyone would agree with me that this is the best Monday Happies post EVER. After being in the sweltering, record-breaking Arkansas heat for the last few months, this weather is like an oasis.

-In the same context- I’m wearing a flannel shirt and I feel great. The weather makes this possible. HOW AMAZING IS IT THAT I’M WEARING FLANNEL?!

-My kids are sleeping great. I think that most people who don’t have kids are all like, “wow. This post keeps getting lamer and lamer” but anyone who has kids is nodding in agreement and saying “Yes, that is the most amazing thing ever!” because it IS. Both kids have been sleeping like logs through the nights and making it possible for me to feel alive and happy during the day time hours.

-There is a beautiful mountain with snow on it outside of my room. The condo where we are having Ben’s family reunion is actually on the slopes.  It’s beautiful! I’m having to look at the beauty and appreciate the greenery because there is this *tiny* part of me that is totally bitter because this would be the best place ever to stay in the winter time because there are 2 ski lifts outside of the hotel doors. It would have been so awesome…. Don’tthinkaboutitHeidi…

-I have like 5 of my neighbors watching out for my house and an amazing house sitter. I love not freaking out over my house sitting empty with my cats.

I feel bad that I’ve neglected my blog for the last week- I’m breaking like the NUMBER ONE RULE of blogging, (yes, apparently there are rules…) but it’s been insane. Great but insane. Off the topic of “Happies” for a second, I have to deal with a bare concrete floor in my dining room when I get home. This will be a *fun* blog post- I’ll give you a quick preview:  THE DAY BEFORE WE LEFT FOR VACATION my deep freezer housing my happy, pasture-raised cow was left open and thankyouArkansasheat I lost over ½ of it, maybe more, and there was blood leaking from it (the hamburger meat leaks because it’s in bags) that got behind the freezer and INTO MY WALL and basically it smelled like a dead body. Seriously, it was a scene from Dexter. Ben had to rip up all the carpet, padding, baseboards and we are probably going to have to replace the wood between the walls. Oh, yes, for your viewing pleasure there will also be pictures… Because a good blogger documents the horror as well…

Have a great week- I’ll be back soon!
