Help Kids by Donating Healthy Snacks

Disclosure

As a single mom I have had to rely on the kindness and generosity of people more often than I would like to admit.  Something important to me is teaching my children to give back.  Champions for Kids makes giving back simple, easy and FUN!  I have mentioned them before, and I will most likely be mentioning them again.  THEY ROCK!  I had the opportunity to meet several of the amazing folks behind the scenes at this organization and I was impressed by their knowledge, passion and overall desire to see children taken care of on every level.

They are currently doing a #SIMPLEGiving campaign that runs until September 8th in Walmart stores across Arkansas and Southern Missouri.

On the way to our local Walmart to participate in this campaign, I asked the kids, “What do you know about Champions for Kids?”

They replied, “Isn’t that what we did when we went and walked for Bear to support Williams Syndrome?” “They take care of kids who can’t take care of themselves.” “They help kids.”

When we walked in the door, this was the first thing to greet us, and it explains what the project is about.  The Donation bin was right behind it.  If I am being optimistic, the bin had just been emptied because it was so full, but my first thought was, “How come there is nothing in the box?”  We quickly did our shopping and then headed to the pallet of goodies right in front of the registers.

To help teach my kids about giving, I asked them to all check out the pallet and grab what they would most like to have.

Items to donate to CFK #shop

My daughter went for the fruit snacks by Kellogs:  Made with real fruit, only 70 calories, and fat free.

The other three all went for Powerade Zero drops: Each 3 oz bottle makes 24 servings that help replenish four key electrolytes that are lost in sweat, sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Then I told them that we were going to donate the items and to put them in the cart.  The boys were disappointed, but were eager to help pick out more things for other kids who weren’t as fortunate as we are.  (I did buy them some Powerade.)  This is what we ended up with:

Dole, Kellogs, Powerade, Emerald Nuts #shop

We got Dole Fruit Cups and Squish’ems: The perfect healthy nutritious snack for after school.

My favorite, Emerald Nuts: A portion controlled mess free snack that provides protein to keep you satisfied until dinner time!

I was able to talk to our cashier about the #SIMPLEGiving campaign and she said she had a few people come through that purchased the product to donate, so that made me happy!  On the way out the door, the kids stopped to drop off the items…

They wanted to SLAM DUNK the treats, but I urged them to do it gently so nothing busted open!  LOL  Some kids listened…

Done! #shop

The boys were happy and decided congratulations were in order!

High Five for Champions For Kids #shop

I encourage you to head out to Walmart today and grab an item or two, it doesn’t have to be an entire shopping cart full, and drop the items from the pallet into the donations bins this next week.  You can make a difference!
