Be Good 2 Yourself: Home-Made Baby Wipes

I’ve decided that this will be a weekly series. I’ll post one per week, every Saturday so you may have time to actually do it!

Recently Serena Tustin came and spoke to our community group about her book, Simple Solutions, Tangible Results and how she feeds a family of 4 on $50/ week including dog food and all other household necessities! She does classes and seminars and has been featured on the radio and newspaper recently. E-mail her to come share with your church, rockndove2@yahoo.com or find her on facebook. Her ideas and basic recipes in the book are for inexpensive dinners as well as other household items like laundry soap, shampoo and even deodorant! (which I’m totally going to make!)

A lot of things that will be featured in this series on Being Good to Yourself are from her book. I give her the full credit and encourage you to contact her to get a copy for yourself!

For starters, however, the baby wipe recipe that I used isn’t in her book. She brought me a container of wipes she had made earlier that day and had a copy of the recipe that I wrote down, but you can really google this yourself and find a dozen different recipes out there for home-made wipes other than this one.

Why make home-made wipes? you ask. Other than the fact that it is CHEAPER, LESS TOXIC ON THE ENVIRONMENT, LESS WASTEFUL, and frankly you can just feel cool about yourself, what other reasons do you need? :)

Here it is: (Thanks Lisa for e-mailing this to me!)
Step One
Strong paper towels work the best.
Cut one roll of paper towels in half.
Take out the core so wipes pull out of the center.

Step Two
Make solution.

1 Cup Boiling Water
1 Tablespoon Baby Lotion (I used Aveeno Lavender lotion because I like the scent and although I don’t use it on Summit, I think in this small of quantity there won’t be any skin break outs)
1 Tablespoon Baby soap (I used all-natural soap)
1 Tablespoon Baby Oil (I substituted olive oil for the baby oil because I’m very against mineral oil. Google it, it’s horrible for you. But then found that my wipes were too dry so in this small of an amount, I’ll excuse its less than admirable qualities)

Step Three
Place 1/2 roll of paper towels in container.
Pour solution over towels.
Store in container. Makes 1/2 roll.
