New Music

They still make REAL music!

I love music…a lot.

Music has really defined some great (and not so great) moments in my life.  I hear a song and it takes me somewhere…Sometimes it takes me back and sometimes it allows me to look forward.

Really great music just lets you BE.

I am an 80′s girl, but I take pride in the fact that I listen to anything, provided that I can understand or at least be able to read the lyrics!  Finding new music can be a daunting task, especially if you only listen to the radio.  I’m going to give you a few tips on how to find new music AND tell you about this great new band that I recently found!

TIPS FOR FINDING NEW MUSIC:

1.  One of the easiest ways to find new music is to look at the suggestion list when purchasing from Itunes or Amazon. Usually across the bottom of the screen it will say, “People who purchased this album also purchased these items.”

2. You can listen to your friends suggestions (if they have good taste in music anyway.)  I have several friends that are very passionate about their music and they have never suggested something that has been way off base for me.

3.  You can get involved in the local music scene.  The small bars usually host local musicians and live music on the weekends.  There are several bands that I like to go hear in that smaller more intimate setting.

4. This one takes a little more work on your part, but I have found some really great music doing this.  When you are watching your favorite tv shows, listen to the music that is played in the background.  You can google the music from that episode, or you can catch a few of the lyrics and type them in to google search to find the artist as well!

I enjoy listening to mainstream music some of the time, but what I really love is finding music that everyone hasn’t heard of already!

A few weeks back, I had a friend suggest Vintage Trouble.  They are from L.A., but somehow the UK got a hold of them before we did for big tour dates! I looked up a few of their videos and very much enjoyed their sound and talent!  Sometimes I am so hard pressed to hear the actual talent in mainstream music anymore, the quality of music isn’t what it used to be.  However, this band is really stepping up to the plate! (It doesn’t hurt that they are easy on the eyes either!)

They are rock -n-roll, blues and jazz.  The lead singer, Ty Taylor puts a smile on my face!  He feels his music and you can tell!

I love, love, love vinyl records, and I was so excited when I saw on the bands website that purchasing an actual record is an option!  I am purchasing it next week! I have a lot of records, but still no record player as of yet…keep your eyes peeled for me.

I purchased their digital album “The Bomb Shelter Sessions” this morning on Itunes, (I wish they had a “HECK YEAH!” button) and not a moment too soon!

Vintage Trouble are going to be on Jay Leno TONIGHT at 11:35 PM EST/10:35 PM CST!

I will be eagerly watching them tonight and would love for you to watch as well and let me know what you think!  I will post tomorrow afternoon my thoughts on the performance and stage presence! I think these guys are going to be BIG!

For now, I am going to leave you with images of my adorable nephews enjoying the music in the car. (I am babysitting while my brother and sister in law are out of town). We were jamming to “Blues Hand Me Down”.

Oh, and on a side note, “Nancy Lee” is the perfect song to play if you want to dance with your vacuum cleaner!  ;-)
