Bed Mats

GoodNites for Me!

Bored waiting on the doctor on the follow up appointment.

As a lot of you know, Bear, 5 1/2,  had surgery almost 5 weeks ago. Something I didn’t mention was that he has been in diapers pretty much ever since. It was on his intestines and so I knew from the doctor that he would probably have to wear a diaper for some time but … 5 weeks now? I feel like I have 2 toddlers and with Bug, 2 1/2,  in the beginning stages of potty training, I really feel like I am about to pull all my hair out!

The doctors have said that there is no reason for Bear to be back in diapers, he’s been potty trained for over 2 years so I am really wondering why- but regardless we are starting the *fun* potty training process over. I have had to pray a LOT for patience lately and with us traveling a little bit over the holidays, I really needed to be creative so I wasn’t constantly paranoid. Huggies GoodNites Bed Mats kind of were the obvious choice for us for this time, to help both Ben and I to not be paranoid and for Bear not to be embarrassed or feel ashamed.

“Batman” checking out the bed mats!

Even with a diaper (he likes to wear pull ups because they feel like underwear) he often has accidents at night that the diaper can’t hold.  When he stayed with his Grandma for a few days last time, this seemed to happen even more often! My mother-in-law had to send my father-in-law to the store to get overnight diapers so she wouldn’t have to keep doing laundry every day. We are traveling to her house and will be spending the night during Thanksgiving and none of her beds have plastic coverings on them like his one at home does. (Because, who really does?!) We are planning on bringing the GoodNites Mats with us so none of us feel bad during our stay.

GoodNites in the boy’s bathroom- Bear took one package and hid it. He is in a very “mine” phase…

The GoodNites Bed Mats are basically large squares of protection that have a light adhesive on the back to stick to a mattress. Already I’ve used them on Bug’s big bed which doesn’t have a plastic covering on it yet. Bear and Bug like to snuggle sometimes (for about 5 minutes before one of them hits the other one… but I digress). Also, I use them in Bug’s Pack-n-Play because Bug goes between his big bed and Pack-n-Play regularly and sometimes diapers leak.

I shopped online at Walmart.com for the GoodNites and found them easily- I decided to do site to store which was awesome because basically someone at Walmart did all my shopping and I just picked it up! I haven’t seen a product like this for children- when I was pregnant I bought some of the puddle pads for potty training a puppy to put under MY side of the bed in case my water broke- never needed them with two c- sections though!! :) Check out the rest of my shopping trip hereand how I used the site to store option.

I explained to Bear what the products were and he gave them a very enthusiastic thumbs up! HAH!

I had him pose on it before we put sheets on the bed.

I feel like when traveling, this product will go along with us until my kids are without a shadow of doubt potty trained. I mean when I stay in a hotel, I don’t want my kid to pee on the bed. I like to have this fantasy that no child has ever peed on that bed so I want to extent that fantasy to others by my own children not having any accidents. Tis the season and all. :)
