ode to my bed (re-posted from myspace)

O dear bed, I love thee so

I wish I could sleep some mo’

You hold me, keep me warm and snug

I sleep, I dream that I have some uggs

I’d rather be no where but here

but alas, my child awakes, my dear

I’m taken from my warm abode

and I come back, with a load

He’s puked upon you and peed as well

you are trooper, and have yet to smell

At night, I sneak into your coolness

and I do not feel the least bit foolish

I could sleep my life away

keeping the whole world at bay

But I’ve been told that I’m not right

that I am being far too uptight

I hold you too close some may think

only getting up for a drink

My life I woud sleep right through

no worries, no hassles, no big to-do’s

So, alas, dear bed this morrow we must part

I love you, I’ll miss you we shall not be apart

For tomorrow night I shall find you again

and turn over and see…. my other love Ben!

The other morning, I came to understand what this poem means. After about 72 hours of very little sleep, it came to me. Except for that whole Ben part.
